Sorrow + Joy

Sorrow + Joy

Sorrow + joy. I have woken up this morning to what feels like a new world. It rained last night. The temps are a little higher, the air feels fresher and wetter, and a bit of the snow has melted. And my heart is stirred […]

Tiny Cat: Heart of A Lion

Tiny Cat: Heart of A Lion

How many of you have a small cat that loves you with a huge fierceness? My Keko-cat started out as a rescue, skin and bones and hungry and dirty-white-street-smudged all over. She quickly became my friend, then delegated me as her best friend, deciding that […]

Hybrid of Nature: Growing Up Slowly

Hybrid of Nature: Growing Up Slowly

I was sixteen, going on twelve and twenty. I was loved by family and friends, and also had my share of teen angst: alone and lost in my own spirit, the way a bird thinks it’s ready to fly long before its wings have reached […]

Living Like Percy: The Love Of A Dog

Living Like Percy: The Love Of A Dog

Love, love, love, says Percy. And run as fast as you can along the shining beach, or the rubble, or the dust. Then, go to sleep. Give up your body heat, your beating heart. Then, trust.  — Mary Oliver There is something about dogs that makes me want to live […]

Courage: Running The Risk & Risking The Run

Courage: Running The Risk & Risking The Run

“When we were children, we used to think that when we were grown-up we would no  longer be vulnerable. But to grow up is to accept vulnerability… To be alive is to be  vulnerable.”  — Madeleine L’Engle Today I am inspired by risk and vulnerability. […]
